Juno plays in a band whose name changes every few months, on purpose, so that nobody can find the old shows. They have played, by their estimate, two hundred basements. They have never played a room with a stage taller than a milk crate. They are, by a wide margin, the most magnetic person we have photographed this year, and they would like it known that they don't care.
We shot this on a roof on Ludlow Street at the end of a night that began in a basement on Forsyth.

- Why change the name?
- A
So it can't become a thing. The second something becomes a thing, people start showing up for the thing instead of for the night. I'd rather they get lost looking for us.

- Doesn't that make it hard to build anything?
- A
Build what? A career? I have a job. This is the opposite of a job. If it turns into a job I'll stop, and I'll go do something else that isn't one.

- What was tonight?
- A
Tonight was good. Somebody cried during the slow one. Somebody else threw a beer, but affectionately. That's the full range.

- What do you want?
- A
I want it to be 5 AM forever. I want everybody to have somewhere to go. I want the rent to be zero. I want the person who threw the beer to text me.

- A
Not yet. Put that in. Put my number in.

The sun came up at 6:11. They stayed on the roof. We went home. We got a text at 7:40 that said "still here."
