PERMANENT VACATION

During her years running and programming the legendary Bleecker Street Cinema, Jackie Raynal discovered or premiered countless now-beloved films, not least of which was Jim Jarmusch’s debut feature, PERMANENT VACATION. For this special screening, Raynal will present the film in person, and speak about her early advocacy of Jarmusch’s work.

“Jim Jarmusch’s first feature displays the first hints of the deadpan, minimalist-cool style that he would refine in his breakthrough STRANGER THAN PARADISE (1987). Young, alienated hipster Aloysius Christopher Parker (Chris Parker) wanders an eerily vacant Manhattan searching for a sense of meaning while encountering an array of idiosyncratic characters.
