NO FUTURE + ALLET UNITED – PUNK IM POTT

Michael Braun NO FUTURE – KEIN BOCK AUF ILLUSIONEN 1981, 44 min, 16mm-to-DCP. In German with English subtitles. “In 1981, film and television producer Michael Braun made this film (which for a long time circulated only on atrociously poor-quality VHS copies) about the punk scene in Duisburg, featuring Willi Wucher, the band ARTLESS, and – here and there – Bernie Blitz (RIP). It is a journey back to the early 1980s, to the Ruhr region…back when the area was even bleaker than it is today. In the 80s, Braun hosted the ‘Michael Braun Talkshow’ on WDR television, featuring guests such as the bands DAF and östro 430; the show was an early precursor to today's late-night talk shows.” –COMPUTERSTAAT
