Positioned as a rebuke to the colonial fantasy of THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG (1960), MY NAME AIN’T SUZIE spans three decades of the life of a girl from a poor fishing village who makes a name for herself as a courtesan in the Wan Chai red light district in Hong Kong. Over the course of the film, MY NAME AIN’T SUZIE confronts and redresses the occidental fantasies of the East through the protagonists’ interactions with her clients.
