Basilio is hired to watch over a remote beach on Mexico's Baja California coast, a seemingly idyllic stretch of shoreline where little appears to happen. But beneath the tranquil surface lies a community governed by its own codes, where illicit activities coexist with everyday life. Guided by an unwavering moral compass, Basilio is determined to do what he believes is right – only to discover that justice is far more elusive than he imagined. Set against a breathtaking coastal landscape, EL GUARDIáN, the striking fiction debut by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Nuria Ibáñez (THE NAKED ROOM, A WILD STREAM), is a gripping and quietly unsettling meditation on ethics, belonging, and the fragile boundaries between duty and survival.
